Evaluating the combustion process of methane fired cross draft ceramic kiln for efficiency and sustainability

Sustainable ceramic production is not only dependent on the adoption of renewable fuel, but also combustion proficiency, efficient fuel utilization, and thermal energy released. This study reports evaluation a cross-draft kiln, with view to determine efficiency process. The methodology involved firing kiln equivalent ratio, stoichiometric air-methane enthalpy formation reactants products, liberated from results indicated that: 1000°C attainable in 7 hours 30 min at rate 136.97 sec/°C, consumption 1L/61.6 sec average temperature 613.4°C. showed that, enthalpies products -74,897 -557,376.843 were generated ratio 1 : 5 9.818. translated 57.18% air available for process 42.82% deficiency. concluded that though methane fired was weak, resulting loss 39.9%, there an utilization up 60.1%.
